Project Strength is a grant funded initiative through the Erie County Public Defender’s Office. The goal of the program is to reduce the number of out-of-home placements for children resulting from child dependency/neglect cases and truancy issues. The goal of the program is to connect families and children to resources sooner, including legal assistance, to increase the chances of positive outcomes.

Designed to strengthen families who may be struggling with addiction concerns. The group is highly interactive and will focus on education about addictions, family relationships, communication, healthy living skills, as well as having fun! The group will meet for 16 weeks which includes a dinner meal, a group for parents, children, and then a combined parent/child group for a total of 2.5 hours each week.
Child Care Access Means Parents in Schools program is a federal grant that provides low-income BGSU students who are parents with financial assistance for child care.

Townsend Community School is a dropout prevention and credit recovery high school designed to support students and their families during their journey through high school. All students in grades 9-12, up through the age of 21, are eligible to enroll at TCS whether they are credit deficient, or they simply prefer a non-traditional option. Children do best when they can stay in their own school, keep their friends, and see birth parents often, and priority is placed on neighborhoods and schools. The Erie County Health Department sends out real-time alerts to notify community members when there is a spike in overdoses in our community. As part of our Drug Overdose Response Plan, our Drug Overdose Response Team (DORT) monitors overdoses in the county and notifies the community through spike alerts.
A spike is indicated when the total number of suspected overdoses for our county exceeds a pre-determined threshold within a 48 hour period. These spike alerts allow us to take action as a community. Please fill out the form at the link above to receive overdose spike alerts.
